In autumn, Ibiza gets going

The mild autumn temperatures in Ibiza make the island the ideal destination for outdoor sports.

The mild autumn temperatures in Ibiza make the island the ideal destination for outdoor sports. Cycling, running or swimming; enjoying Ibiza on land and at sea is the best way to experience the other more natural and healthy aspect of the island. Autumn is the perfect time to visit Ibiza to train or take part in one of the sporting events organised on the island.

This season opened with the 17th Campagnolo Cycle Tour of Ibiza 2019: the event par excellence for bicycle lovers, which took place from 11 to 13 October. This event coincided with the City of Ibiza International Open, a chess tournament for the whole family using the Swiss eight-round system, which qualifies for the international classification and was held from 12 to 13 October.

A few days later, beginning on 20 October, the island hosted the Ibiza Half Triathlon. A medium distance championship with two kilometres of swimming, 85 kilometres of cycling and 21 kilometres of running, and one of the toughest trials of the season.

On 27 October the Ibiza Trail Marathon will begin, a Trail Running event through some of the most magical places in Ibiza. Various renowned athletes have made it a key event in the international mountain Trail Running calendar and it now has around 1,000 participants. It is a three-part race with an accumulated slope of more than 4,000 metres, in which both elite athletes and amateurs participate.

From 29 November to 1 December the island will host the Ultra Trail, the best way to get to know Ibiza and all its hidden spots. A three-day multi-stage race that offers runners various possibilities: 10 kilometres at night and the long-awaited Ibiza Ultra Trail with a distance of 80, 42 or 21 kilometres. An irresistible experience combining nature and sport.

Finally, and to bid farewell to the sporting year, there is the Cursa Popular Eivissa Patrimoni de la Humanitat, a race that began as a celebration of Ibiza’s recognition with this UNESCO distinction, which this year celebrates its twentieth anniversary, and which runs through the most emblematic areas of the city such as Dalt Vila, the Port or the Promenade. This race has three variants: 600 meters and 1,500 metres, for lower categories, and 10 kilometres for all other categories.
