Craft stalls, concerts, creativity and the authentic hippie essence are kept alive in this corner of the island.
In the 1960s the island of Ibiza saw the arrival of the first hippies; young people who stood out for their colourful costumes and who proclaimed peace wherever they went. A unique cosmopolitan breeding ground in Franco’s Spain, where the Las Dalias Market was established.
Today, this area located in the village of Sant Carles de Peralta is more alive than ever and this year it celebrates 65 years of existence with many innovations to commemorate this special date. To this end, it has renovated its legendary cafeteria, which has been visited by creators from all over the world, and will decorate its façades with graffiti by international artists, among other activities.
If anything characterises Las Dalias, it is the fact that it is a melting pot of cultures in a community where the authentic hippies who have been living on the island for more than 40 years coexist with tourists from the all over the world. It is a corner of the island with a unique atmosphere, with stalls offering products handmade by craftspeople from Ibiza and other parts of the world, who live off their creativity and are inspired by the essence of the white island to create unique and exclusive items. This atmosphere is combined with the appearance in the gardens of national and international artists who visit this venue every year to offer special concerts to visitors.
This year the legendary Las Dalias market celebrates 65 years of existence and to commemorate its anniversary will offer an extensive programme of activities in addition to the opening of this venue, from 10.00 am until sunset, every Saturday of the year.
Thus, in the month of March, Las Dalias will travel to Berlin to take the essence of this unique location to one of the most important tourism fairs in the world, the ITB.
From June to September, this market will open every Monday and Tuesday night with memorable concerts, which this year have a luxury line-up to celebrate its 65th anniversary. Likewise, during these summer months this venue will host the ‘Namasté’ festival every Wednesday, an event that offers attendees the chance to enjoy creativity, beauty, love, music, shows or sacred fires in this special part of Ibiza where the authentic essence of the island is kept alive.
Furthermore, in August, Las Dalias celebrates the ‘Sunday Night Market’ every Sunday from 7 pm onwards.
Ibiza’s culture, customs, tradition and freedom have already conquered such well-known figures as Mick Jagger, Naomi Campbell and Justin Bieber, among many others, who have immersed themselves in the peace and love of this iconic venue.
