Every year, the village of Sant Antoni de Portmany, in the west of the island, is host to the Medieval Seafaring Festival which pays homage to its maritime past as a port, and which has become one of the most eagerly awaited events in Ibiza’s calendar as it welcomes in the autumn.
A Festival that this year will be celebrating its tenth edition, from 26 to 29 September, staged in a setting that will take visitors back to medieval times, thanks to the numerous stands installed on the sea front promenade and the incredible atmosphere.
The event features music, festivities and fun with entertainments, stands selling local crafts and cuisine, all with the typical sunsets of Santi Antoni de Portmany as a backdrop, making it an enjoyable occasion for residents and tourists alike.
The Medieval Seafaring Festival gathers artisans from all over the country who bring their “treasures” to the island, displaying their wares along the streets Bisbe Torres and Rossel and up to the Plaza de s’Era den Manyà. Craftsmen and artists will be selling handmade goods of all kinds including decorative items, jewellery and leather goods.
This is also an ideal event for children, as entertainments have been organised just for them, which means that the festival has something for all the family and for all ages.
Traditional dancing, street processions and concerts will also be held in this 10th Medieval Seafaring Festival, and once again the streets of Sant Antoni de Portmany will be filled with a colourful throng of pirates, princesses, kings and sorcerers, along with other characters of the era, taking us back in time in an atmosphere of theatre and fun.
