Once again, Ibiza has had its own booth at the International Tourism Fair in Madrid, FITUR 2020, where it has presented “all its facets”: its cuisine, its sporting activities, a sound of its own, its natural surroundings and its extensive entertainment programme.
The media and institutions, as well as entrepreneurs, politicians, hoteliers and representatives of the tourism sector, came to discover all the attractions of the island and attend the presentations made by its five city councils, which, through various campaigns, were able to show their strengths to increasingly demanding future visitors, with the aim of attracting tourists in summer and in the off-season.
Thus, for example, the municipality of Sant Antoni de Portmany presented an action under the title ‘Sant Antoni para comérselo’, involving a show-cooking session by the chefs Alvaro Sanz, owner of the restaurant Es Tragón, the first establishment with a Michelin Star on the island, José Miguel Bonet, owner of the restaurant Es Ventall, and Victor Sánchez and Miguel Ángel López Campoy, in charge of the kitchens of the restaurants Hostal La Torre and Villa Mercedes respectively. This event held at the city centre restaurant Dos Cielos owned by the Torres brothers, located in the Hotel Melià Gran Palacio de los Duques in Madrid.
Meanwhile, the Sant Joan de Labritja Town Council presented its proposal ‘Natural Yoga Sant Joan de Labritja’, an initiative aimed at introducing yoga to residents and tourists in idyllic corners of this municipality. From April to November, Mireia Canalda, a model and professional kundalini yoga instructor, will give various free classes in several of the town’s natural areas to combine respect for the environment with balance between body and mind.
The city of Ibiza, on the other hand, chose to show off its most cultural and artistic side and presented the second intensive urban dance course, Ibiza Dance Platform, which will take place from 1 to 5 July. Its aim is to promote sport and dance in the municipality in order for people to visit Ibiza in a different way this summer.
The municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu opted to focus its campaign on family tourism, presenting its new catalogue ‘Hotels with charm’, aimed at enabling visitors to enjoy the island in all its fullness, and offering a combination of unique experiences and quality in the so-called “Family Moments”.
Finally, Sant Josep de sa Talaia attended this fair with a campaign called ‘365’ in which it exhibited its new website, where you can discover all the culinary delights, sports, beaches, hotels, hiking routes and many other aspects of this municipality in an easy and intuitive way.
At Fitur, the Consell d’Eivissa exhibited all the attractions of the island of Ibiza, promoting sports tourism in particular and announcing eight major sports events scheduled for 2020. The presentation was supported by the athlete Martín Fiz and the cyclists Óscar Pereiro and Enrique Morcillo, who confirmed that these events combine the best of sport with the chance to enjoy the Ibizan paradise.
Finally, the Consell d’Eivissa presented all the facets of the island in the Madrid discotheque Teatro Kapital in a promotional event aimed at travel agencies and journalists, entitled: ‘Ibiza, with a sound of its own’. With diversity and music as its insignia, the leading institution on the island defended the most authentic Ibiza, but also the most sustainable, supportive, sporty, gastronomic and entertaining one. An event in which the video ‘Stop plastic’ was screened, with the participation of the biologist Manu San Félix, the architect José Ribas, DJ Sebastián Gamboa, the designer Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, the chef Ferran Adrià and the public relations officer Carlos Martorell.
