During the second quarter of 2024, Ibiza once again introduced itself as the ideal stage for film productions through three big profile actions led by Ibiza Film Commission: by attending the Marché du Film in Cannes and the Conecta FICTION & ENTERTAINMENT event, and taking part in a roundtable organised by Cinemanía.
Marché de Film in Cannes
Promoting the island of Ibiza as an attractive filming location is an absolute must in one of the most important events in the film industry: Marché du Film (Film Market). Held in Cannes last May, the manager of Ibiza Film Commission, Noemí Castro, attended this important event and several strategic meetings to draw producers and film makers over to Ibiza and introduce the association as an interesting reliable partner for international productions. The event also involved meetings with professionals of the Spanish audiovisual industry.
Some of the most relevant meetings were with Equal Film Fest, Ánima Stillking, AFCI Locations & Global Production, Spain Film Commission, Mallorca Film Commission, Film Madrid, Madrid Film Office, Carnaby Films, Screen International and Revista Rubik. Among other events, Noemí Castro also attended Mallorca Meets Cannes, organised by Mallorca Film Commission together with Fundació Mallorca Turisme; the networking event Rise & Shine Mixer 2024, organised by AFCI, the Global Production Awards 2024, organised by Screen International; and the event offered by ICEX (Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade), which gathered film professionals from all over the world.
Roundtable by Cinemanía
Over the month of May, Ibiza Film Commission worked with Cinemanía magazine for an advertising partnership in the June issue that included the following actions: the insertion of an ads page, an interview with Noemí Castro and its participation in the 2nd Film Commission Special Event, a roundtable discussing the appeals of international filming, new audiovisual infrastructures and film tourism. Held at the offices of Cinemanía in Madrid and chaired by its manager, Carlos Marañón, this roundtable also included Mike Villanueva, head of Castilla-La Mancha Film Commission and Paulino Cuevas, general coordinator of Spain Film Commission.
VIII Conecta Fiction & Entertainment
Ibiza Film Commission made its début as partner of Spain Film Commission on its second consecutive visit to Conecta FICTION & ENTERTAINMENT. In its eighth year, this event brought together in Toledo executives and professionals of the audiovisual industry from all over the world. For three days, Noemí Castro, manager of Ibiza Film Commission, manned the Spain Film Commission stand welcoming anyone who showed an interest in Ibiza as a filming location and held meetings with Ánima Stillking, EFD Studios and Yellow Road Creative House, among others.
Ms Castro was also at the cocktail party offered by ICEX, The Walt Disney Company Latin America and EFD Studios, where she was able to exchange opinions on the industry with both national and international experts. Once again, Ibiza Film Comission helped organise Conecta Party this year.
