The American, Canadian, French, Swiss, German and British consolidator markets have been the recipients of the promotional actions carried out between late May and mid July. These actions included professional workshops, destination presentations and press and fam trips.
Workshops in Seville and the UK
The Department for Tourism Promotion of Ibiza took part in the professional work-shops to support trade in the American market organised by Tourspain (Spanish Tourism Institute) in Seville from 9th to 12th June. During this event, the Department held about 70 meetings with buyers from the United States and Canada, mostly travel agencies, specialised DMOs and event organisers, who showed great interest in Ibiza.
On the other hand, the Department also attended the second Travel Bulletin Mediter-ranean Showcase in the British towns of Stratford-upon-Avon and Chester, on 2nd and 3rd June respectively. Organised by the important digital media outlet devoted to tourism professionals, Travel Bulletin, this two-day event offered the chance to intro-duce the newest appeals of the island to about 80 travel agents.
Ibiza seduces Zurich and Paris
Late May and early July, the Department for Tourism Promotion travelled to Switzerland and France to show the most active and family-friendly side of the island at the two successfully popular events it organised. The Zurich event hosted 90 travel agents and specialised press representatives, to whom the Department introduced the new holiday club product called Ibiza Family Moments and the settings and facilities that make the island an extremely attractive destination for adventure and activity holidays. Switzerland was the source of a total 129,000 visitors last year and is a market with a high return rate with as much as 52% of repeat visitors.
The next event, held in Paris mid July, welcomed about 110 travel agents and specialised media from the French market, which was the sixth top source of visitors travelling to Ibiza in 2024, with a total 209,802 travellers and a 30% return rate. For 2025, the numbers are expected to grow given the larger amount of flights, with direct flights from eight French cities and including flights from and to Paris all year round. The event was hosted together with the Spanish Tourism Institute (Tourspain) and introduced the island as the perfect place for sports and adventure and activity holidays all 365 days.
Press and fam trips
In June, the Department for Tourism Promotion hosted five American agencies and two Canadian agencies as a result of the meetings held during the professional work-shops to support trade in the American market organised by Tourspain (Spanish Tourism Institute). This action included a travel programme with cultural visits, tours of the coast, walks through inland villages, local food experiences and other interest-ing activities.
On the other hand, at the end of the second quarter, the Department organised two press trips for the German and British markets. The first of them gathered eight Ger-man media outlets and the adventure and activity holiday operator Wikinger Reisen to show them the wilderness and facilities that make Ibiza an appealing destination for fans of sports and nature. On this occasion, the Department for Tourism Promotion prepared a travel programme in line with the goals, with hikes, kayaking and moun-tain bike rides as well as cultural visits to the island’s heritage and stops to discover the local food.
The second action to promote the island in the press was devoted to the British publi-cation National Geographic Traveller, that will soon be publishing an article about family holidays in Ibiza. A bike touring route and an outing on a glass-bottom boat are some of the activities included in the programme for this individual press trip.
