The Ibizan regional government, Consell Insular d’Eivissa, has launched a public consultation aimed at citizens and the travel industry as part of its strategic initiative that aims to reposition the Ibiza brand, strengthen its sustainability and define its future establishing an advanced and participatory model of tourism governance and management.
With this project to strengthen the brand, the Department for Tourism Promotion aims to solve today’s needs and challenges arising in Ibiza as a holiday destination in a strategic, structured and generally accepted way to guarantee the competitiveness of the biggest driver of the island’s economy.
The Department will continue to work hard to achieve the goals of this strategic plan, which is to be completed by February 2027, and requires the active participation of citizens and the travel industry for its success. Their engagement and collaboration will help the regional government to gather different points of view to build a relevant and generally accepted tourism strategy that reflects the reality of the island and the outlook for tourism in Ibiza.
An open consultation for everyone on the island
The participatory process has been split into two broad lines of action. On the one hand, a consultation to the travel industry to gather relevant information, strengthen participatory governance and encourage collaborations between the main players in the destination. On the other hand, the consultation to citizens, which will provide residents’ feedback, perceptions and expectations on tourism, will be a transparent, inclusive and accessible process.
This poll, available to everyone on the website of the Consell Insular d’Eivissa until 13th November, will allow citizens to be directly involved in building a new tourism model by providing their view on the role that tourism should play in developing the island.
With this initiative based on citizens’ participation and collaboration, the Consell Insular d’Eivissa shows its commitment to repositioning Ibiza as a holiday destination ready for any challenges that may arise in the coming decades while strengthening the sense of pride, identity and belonging to the island among citizens and the different public and private players in the industry.
