Although they have not been celebrated for many years, they have already become a tradition. We are talking about the ‘Peix Nostrum’ fish fairs which are held six months a year, from March to October, and which promote the our local high-quality fishing products at a very competitive price.

The first of these Fairs will be held on 2 Marchin Santa Eulària des Riu. This town adorns itself to celebrate the fair of the gerret (pickarel). Hundreds of people gather at this event to sample dishes from some of the best restaurants in the town, who say that the only problem with this particular species is the large number of bones.

In spite of this, it is a pleasure to stroll around Santa Eulària and discover the rice dishes, pickles, stews, pastas, sauces and even sandwiches or hamburgers prepared with this fish.

However, these Fairs are not just about gastronomy and eating; there are also family activities, concerts, exhibitions of fishing methods and equipment and a long list of alternative options that make visiting these fairs a great opportunity to discover a world not to overcrowded by tourists or residents.

This gerret Fair will be followed by the Gastronomic Cuttlefish Festival on 23 March in Portinatx, the Lobster Fair on 13 April in Sant Antoni, the Seafood Rice Competition on 20 April in Ibiza, the Red Mullet and Autumn Fish Fair on 5 October in Ibiza and the Squid Fair on 26 October in Sant Carles.
