The ageless island

Choosing Ibiza for your holiday is a safe choice as you know that it will be fun whatever your age.

Choosing Ibiza for your holiday is a safe choice as you know that it will be fun whatever your age. There are myriad activities for children which the whole family can enjoy, in addition to discovering new places and learning about a different culture. Some ideal activities for the youngest members of the family include experiencing nature in all its forms. Horse riding, canoeing or walking the island’s beaches from end to end is the simplest way of discovering the island, and keeping the children entertained, however Ibiza has plenty more in store.

Water parks such as Aguamar, in Platja d’en Bossa, or multi- adventure parks like Acrobosc in Santa Eularìa des Riu, along with a number of activities run by summer camps or local farms   which can make for a really interesting family outing. For example, at the Can Musson farmstead  children can discover rural Ibiza, getting to know the various animals that live on the farm and are native to the island, and they can join in workshops where children and grownups alike can learn how to make bread, pizzas or cook traditional dishes.

More adventurous tourists will love Arcobosc, a circuit which includes abseiling, hanging bridges and games for all ages. When it gets really hot, a visit to the Aguamar water is a must.  This water park in Platja d’en Bossa has everything from water slides, pools and activities for those wishing to indulge their inner child, just let the adrenaline flow and enjoy the speed. For those who are a little older, another very interesting option is a visit to Surf Lounge Ibiza where seven-year-olds and upwards can learn the basics of surfing, thanks it is vast artificial wave and the supremely professional monitors, all in true California style.

If what you are seeking is something more environmentally inclined, we recommend discovering the local fauna at the Cap Blanc aquarium in Santoni de Portmany. This is a centre for the recovery of marine animals such as turtles, where you can also discover the different species that live in the waters around the island. Another excellent option for children to enjoy is a visit to the Can Marçà caves in Sant Miquel de Balansa, where you can plunge into a subterranean world led by guides who will help you discover the Ibiza’s pirate history. This activity can link up with a visit to one of the watchtowers set around the island’s coasts, which in former times protected Ibiza from pirate attacks. Some of these are extremely well preserved and are open to visitors.

There are also plenty of activities organised throughout the summer, such as open air cinema “Cinema a la Fresca”, which will be showing films on several beaches and in the town squares of the island, and you can find the programme at  the Eivissa city Council website official calendar of events or the official website of Cinema Paradiso Ibiza,  which lists all the films and the different locations.

Paddle surf, scuba diving, boat trips, hot air balloons … Ibiza offers a wide range of possibilities to ensure a holiday that will be an amazing experience for all the family.
