In October and November, Ibiza Film Commission developed two relevant actions to place the island on the audiovisual business scene: a fam trip with British and American location scouts linked to well-known production companies and studios, like Universal; and training days for the local industry. Both events were part of the action plan agreed for this year.
International location scouts drawn to Ibiza
A group of eight professionals from the cinema and TV industry visited the island on 18th and 19th October for a fam trip organised by Ibiza Film Commission to show the Ibiza’s appeals as a filming location. These UK and USA location scouts were guided by IFC director, Noemí Castro, who took them on a tour of sites with great potential for audiovisual narratives.
During this two-day tour, the group visited the villages of Santa Gertrudis and Sant Miquel, the Moscarter lighthouse, Puig de Missa in Santa Eulària, the old quarters of La Marina and Dalt Vila in the city of Ibiza, the Nature Reserve of Ses Salines, the coastline of Pou des Lleó and the towers of Sa Sal Rossa and d’en Rovira. The tour included urban and natural settings to offer a diverse proposal besides the iconic sites on the island and to inspire location scouts to propose Ibiza for future cinema and TV productions.
Training days for the local industry
On 9th and 10th November, Ibiza Film Commission and the ALMA scriptwriters’ union gave two free training days focused on audiovisual scriptwriting. The training days were for professionals from the local audiovisual industry and were held at Hotel THB Los Molinos, in Ibiza. They were attended by 30 professionals and included 4 talks given by the scriptwriters Alba Lucío, Azucena Rodríguez Pomeda, Carlos López and Rebeca Serrada.
