Promoting Ibiza across the Spanish market has been the main purpose of the actions launched in Andalusia, Levante, Barcelona and Bilbao since March. Also, during this period, a press trip was organised for Irish media outlets to introduce them to a more relaxed and natural Ibiza.
Workshops in Andalusia and Levante
Over the months of March and April, the Department for Tourism Promotion offered five workshops on new services and experiences and interesting information for travel agents in Malaga (18 March), Seville (19 March), Valencia (1 April), Alicante (2 April) and Murcia (3 April). The promotional action carried out in Andalusia drew in 67 and 90 agents respectively and included a press lunch in Malaga, where journalists were introduced to the new Ibiza Family Moments product club. As a result, the club was mentioned in local outlets, like on Onda Cero Malaga radio station and the digital magazine Revista Urbanity.
On the other hand, the days devoted to promoting Ibiza in Levante gathered 62 travel agents in Valencia, 65 in Alicante and 59 in Murcia, and also drew in different media outlets who came to the press lunch arranged in the Valencian capital. Las Provincias, Hello Valencia and Economía 3 were some of the publications that mentioned the appeals of Ibiza as a family, cultural and sports destination.
Several businesses and institutions from the island accompanied the Department for Tourism Promotion on the workshops organised in Andalusia and Levante, including: the town councils of Sant Josep de sa Talaia, Sant Antoni de Portmany, Santa Eulària des Riu and Eivissa; hotel businesses Hotel Puchet, Fergus Hotels, THB Hotels, Vibra Hotels, Invisa Hoteles, Rosamar Ibiza Hotel, OD Hotels, Calma Hotels (Grupo Mambo) and Sirenis Hotels and Resorts; travel agencies Marazul Ibiza, Brasa Agency and Vi-ajes Es Freus; cruise companies Balearia and Trasmed; as well as the Ibiza Pride or-ganisation.
Ireland visits Ibiza
Six Irish journalists working for or with outlets such as Irish Mirror, Dublin Gazette and Planet Woman visited the island from 1st to 4th May on a press trip co-organised with the Spanish tourism office in Ireland. For this action, the Department for Tour-ism Promotion prepared a tour suited to the participants’ interests, mostly focusing on a more natural Ibiza and the new services and experiences offered by the island as a holiday destination. During their stay on the island, these journalists went on sever-al outings, including a bike ride in the countryside, kayaking along the coast, cultural tours of Dalt Vila, a visit to the Ethnographic Museum of Ibiza in Santa Eulària and another to the nature reserve of Ses Salines, in addition to food tourism activities, like a workshop to learn to make flaó, a tour of a winery and a tasting of Ibiza’s traditional dishes.
Ibiza at B-Travel
From 28th till 30th March, the Department for Tourism Promotion travelled to Barce-lona for the new edition of the Tourism Fair called B-Travel, an event for travellers. On 28th April, the Department introduced Ibiza as a holiday destination to 80 guests, all of them industry professionals, as part of the event organised by ACAVe (Corporate Association of Specialised Travel Agencies) at the Fair.
Promotion in Bilbao
The town councils of Eivissa, Santa Eulària des Riu, Sant Josep de sa Talaia and Sant Antoni de Portmany, along with the the businesses Invisa Hoteles, THB Hoteles, Hotel Puchet, Viajes Es Freus and Grupo Mambo, offered a workshop in Bilbao last 7th May. Forty travel agents attended this workshop and were able to learn about the Ibiza Family Moments product club as well as other attractions from the island.
After this action, the Department for Tourism Promotion attended the 45th edition of the holiday fair called Expovacaciones, held from 9th until 11th May at the BEC exhibition site in Bilbao. This fair is devoted exclusively to end customers, where they can find inspiration and gather information for their trips from the holiday destinations and exhibitors at the event.
