The Department for Tourism Promotion attended Routes Europe, the greatest event of the European airport industry held in Seville, from 8th until 10th April. This trade fair, devoted exclusively to air connectivity, gathers airlines, airports and holiday des-tinations every year to analyse the possibility of creating new airline routes.

During these two days, close to twenty meetings were held with AENA, online travel agencies and different airlines, including SAS, Delta Airlines, TAP Air Portugal and Norwegian, among others. At each of these meetings, segmented data from the Smart Tourism System (SIT Eivissa) were provided to support the requests for new flight connections or the lengthening of existing ones.

These meetings confirmed the interest shown by airlines from the Nordic market in extending connectivity with Ibiza at the start and end of the season, as well as the need to keep working on improving connectivity with the American market. This sec-ond goal requires a continued line of action with the air travel industry focused on an active promotion of the destination with the support of the Ibizan tourism industry.
