When the Kingdom of Aragon conquered Ibiza on the 8th of August, 1235, the Catalonians tore down the Arab mosque and built the cathedral. The habitants of the island took the names of Christian saints and numerous churches were built.
Every year, the municipalities and towns in Ibiza celebrate the days of their patron saint with great popular festivities, where traditions, culture and sport are present, as well as an extensive programme of activities for all ages.
