The dances are held around wells and springs all over the island, to commemorate the end of the harvest and the agricultural chores. They also pay tribute to water, which is of course why they are held around the island’s wells and springs.
These dances were resurrected some years ago by farmers’ dance colles or troupes, who breathed new life into them with music and dance. Everyone is welcome to take part, and of course there will be lots of local wines (“vi pagès”) and typical regional sweets such as “bunyols” or “orelletes”.
